Pride and Popularity- A classic for Teens
Jenni James "decodes [Pride and Prejudice] for a teenage audience."
"The twists and turns play out in this teenage romance where popularity, school dances and getting into college are all that matter. . . . Pride & Popularity is romantic, age-appropriate and morally clean, giving younger audiences reassurance that they don’t need to compromise to be cool. But the message rings as true in Pride & Popularity as it does in Pride and Prejudice — first impressions are too often wrong and second chances are always welcome.
Thanks to Caitlin Orton for the Deseret News for this great review.

Northanger Alibi--wittiness and appeal of Jane Austen's novels, but with a modern twist
Sheila over at LDS Women's Book Review said of Northanger Alibi:
Main character, Claire Hart, is obsessed with The Twilight Series. She loves hot vampires and is excited to visit Washington state during the summer. Claire is hoping to find her own vampire while she is there. . . . There is a lot of romance, with eye-batting, flirting and kissing. . . . I am happy to recommend this book to my daughter, her friends, and blog reader’s daughters. Northanger Alibi is a clean romance, with many “giggle” moments, and the wittiness and appeal found in Jane Austen’s novels, but with a fun modern twist.

Northanger Alibi-Teenage girls will likely find "Northanger Alibi" as engrossing as Twilight.
What do fans of Twilight read now that the Twilight craze is dying down? Why Northanger Alibi! In her recent review, Caitlin Orton for the Deseret News said "teenage girls will likely find Northanger Alibi as engrossing as Twilight." Wow!
Which is especially appealing to parents who are looking for fun, clean, wholesome reading for their teenage daughters. Caitlin goes on to say that "[Claire] is the kind of role model parents hope for their daughters, and the author gives readers plenty of reasons to look up to [her.]" Jenni James "continues to make Austen's classics come to life for 21st century teens. The plot, language and characters are appropriate for young readers, and on top of that the story reinforces traditional family values."

Another great book in The Jane Austen Diaries!
Kathryn said of Northanger Alibi, "Super fun to read and very funny. . . I can see where Claire is coming from when she gets wrapped up in her fictional world."
Kathryn's review of Pride & Popularity was another that needed to be shared in it's entirety!
"I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this book for review. When it came in the mail yesterday I paused the book I had been reading to start this immediately. Once my kids were in bed at 7:30 last night I started reading Pride and Popularity and couldn't put it down! I stayed up until 1:30 in the morning to finish. I've never been happier to lose sleep. I was still happy this morning. You can't help but be happy when reading this feel good book. Thank you Jenni for the fun night!
I know I've said this before, but let me remind you. I love retellings! There is something peaceful and relaxing about knowing how a book will end but not knowing how it will get there. I love Jane Austen books and her characters. Before I began reading I knew I would love the "Elizabeth" and "Darcy" characters, and I was right. Chloe and Taylor are so fun!
The chemistry between Chloe and Taylor is amazing! Don't worry, it wasn't steamy or anything. :) I loved every scene with Chloe and Taylor whether they were hating or loving each other. The tension was so great. Chloe was fiery, prideful, and afraid of getting hurt. She surprised and mesmerized Taylor. I don't think I'll say any more about how these two change throughout the book; I'll let you read and find out for yourself.
This was a fun, light, clean read that I loved! If you're in the mood for a light-hearted fiesty romance go read this book!"

"I am adoring the Jane Austen Diaries series as a fun, clean choice for tweens and teens. . . I would recommend Northanger Alibi to all readers, and think it will especially appeal to middle grade and younger teens. If you haven't read the first in the series, Pride & Popularity I would go pick it up, since it was one of my favorite reads of this year. Pride & Popularity is engaging, adorable and sparkling
If you're a fan of Jane Austen and have yet to check out Jane Austen Reviews, you need to soon as it seems she's covered every Jane Austen sequel/spinoff ever written.
So it's no small praise when she says "Having read several other Young Adult retellings of Pride and Prejudice – Love, Lies, and Lizzie by Rosie Rushton, Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg, and Mr. Darcy Goes Overboard by Belinda Roberts – I must admit that Pride and Popularity by Jenni James is my top choice and receives my highest recommendation! In my opinion, it is the most plausible, accessible, and well-crafted YA version of Pride and Prejudice I have read!"
